we're the champions my friends/and we'll keep on fighting to the end- the queen

fought to the end we did and we won it! The midfield ran and ran and ran and ran and ran. THANK YOU liyana,jun,huihui,germaine,diana. it was a pleasure to work with them as a right-winger. The defence was locked by our last man weilin. This is teamwork :) and we never gave up..one goal down in the first game against kent ridge and we tirelessly hustled them until we got our draw at the very last minute.

but due respect to sheares, king edward VII, raffles and especially eusoff. At the risk of getting lynched, i think eusoff didnt deserve their 3rd placing for they've proved to be strong throughout the competition and also cos angel(gk), grace, mayyin,wanyi,sara are eusoffians. i love PL too much to break loyalties with my fellow schoolmates.

thank also to our coach robert for being dedicated to the title aspirations and making our team more technically and tactically refined.

and many many thanks to my brick wall YP for coming down to support and not knowing anyone in my hall except for julie..but then still managed to chat up all his old girlfriends(platonic la) from every hall. i quote " wah so many of my friends are here..sheares, eusoff, kr..wah!" haha. oh yes he trained me halfway during the tournament too after he saw that i held on to the ball for too long in the KE match.

now back to IVP to play and improve even more. i'll say it once again, i love soccer.

for the love of the game

in less than 3 days i'll be playing my guts out for the IHG. Not because i want to win it badly or that I've something to prove(ok maybe partially). More than anything else, i want to know what's arrete-- the Greek ideology of individual sporting excellence. When you love a game, i believe you will challenge yourself to push the limits of good. i'm not the best player around. not indisposable and definitely not legendary :) But i want to be mentally tough against the sun, rain, mud, tackles, lethargy and fatigue. alright, bring it on!

i love soccer.

the chipmunk made a trip out of the petshop to stay in c313 on the eventful night of 11/1/07. she remembered to come with food--minestrone from soup spoon and a subway sandwich so i declare:

second only to crosby :) also thanks for kicking me off my bed but more thanks for making me put colgate on my nose to cure my flu. haha. see this is the future nurse singapore is to be protected from. haha! nah, i love you chipmunk and you know it, cuddled up safe in that knowledge. you come back again ya hear!

hehe. this came after i told him i was going to attend malay class at 4. and he asked if it was to scold people on the soccer pitch. YES la. sini bola! alright minahlaine..sounds good eh? ;) malay class is going to be a breeze i hope! learnt all the easy phrases and pronouns today. imma be speaking bahasa melayu like i was a native speaker..baik-baik.

2nd convo was with jacob who went to old trafford (alright let's lynch him now!) and bought a Man U scarf for me. ok maybe there'll be no lynching :) NATHANAEL LIM, please learn from this exemplary friend and get something good for me in taiwan yah. haha :D

muddy day

midway through training; i took a look at my legs and this was how muddy they were.

the muddiest my boots have ever been.

that was for last fri soccer training. but the weather's gone drier in the past few days so i think i'll be kicking up half-baked mud now :) BLISS.

blessed new year y'all

the days leading up to 2007 were the pits. let's begin with the stomach flu i had on saturday until yesterday. totally trashed all the countdown plans YP and i had. stuck at home aft visiting grandma's and the both of us watched rush hour2 and some jackneo show that was all in dialect(hokkien,teochew and cantonese. haha.) all i had ystd was cereal,glucose water, marcaroni and oatmeal with marmite. major bummer. i got pissed, he got pissed and the sum total of us getting pissed since i came back has risen exponentially. nevertheless, he's the best guy there is and i didnt sew lumps for nothing.

alright enough of all these naysaying! i'm one of the millions over ardent believers of the phrase "a new year, a new start". besides 2 nice emails from delia and nat this morning made me smile.

2006 was good because as i've said, i re-met the best guy in the funniest way possible. thanks for everything. it's vague but you have been all the superlatives i can muster. last year was good because of friends i've learnt to love even more. family, cg, juniors, my dearest roomie and people here and there who have made my life complete. God had to pull me to the right path many times but He never failed when i leant on Him. so my prayer for 2007 would be that i'll let my great God take control because He's tried and proven. and i want to be tried and proven for Him too.

2006 was also a road to self-discovery. lost myself in 2005 and a year later, i've found myself. i slip away sometimes but eventually i'm still here, waiting to say hello to myself again. that's a reference to derek walcott's 'love after love' poem. i began 2006 working at SIA engine co. and fell for my chipmunk all over again. hehe. but it was only after i ended the 8-5 routine that i shook off the shackles of 2005 and headed happily into greener pastures.

and then i discovered this year that i can be heartless. YP calls it viciousness. but that was only once. the rest of the times i invoked selective memory was quite pure heartlessness. haha nevermind i dont think anybody gets it. it doesnt matter anymore because a snail came and slug off that lizard. AIGHT. ok that was random.

and now, to shake off that flu bug and go partttttying! before i end off, here's my wish for everyone.
