Happy Birthday Robs!

He turns 20 with us :) welcome to the club.

He's looking good! Nice hair and he's so rocking the shirt.

Let's see I havent really celebrated anyone's birthday for awhile after mine cos everybody seems to be born in the month of July. Is it because parents get randier from October onwards? HAHAHA. I dont want to know that. Really.

It was a rainy afternoon at Settler's Cafe where we celebrated Rob's bday. The games were so fun. Especially Who's The Boss. They should make a 'hood version of it and call it who da boss. It can be like a race to see who gets to be the next Def Jam head honcho or even better still a Grand Theft Auto Version of it. That would be so cool.

We found the Risk futuristic version though. It is funny! Hongkong has taken over China and it is huge and there are new countries with fantastic names. Pictures to show:

Cute right? :)

A Midsummer's Night Dream

we had a picnic basket! Look to my right. But it didnt get utilized much. Well it was a pretty cool play and good company too. I love the idea of anything in a park..Fort Canning nonetheless, which is so romantic. But the Hardgay lookalikes strutting their stuff as Oberon's fairies and kinky love going on between Helena and Demetrius just didnt cut it for me. What could have been a picture-pretty setting was a little wrecked by the modern trappings of the SRT's adaptation. It feels like we should have been at St James' Power Station with the funky costumes and the 'I will survive' performance by Titania and her fairies who wore leggings (EEWW.)

But I had fun. And I'm a sucker for gimmicky things in theatre cos it makes the shelling out of money so much more worth it. I mean if I really want to watch Shakespeare's play in all its glory, I would go watch Sir Ian 'Gandalf' McKellen and the Royal Shakespeare Co. when they come down in august(?). But it's $200 a pop and I dont think there will be gimmicky Phantom of the Opera renditions like AMSN. Which was a hoot by the way.

I just found out that there's a 'teen adaptation' of AMSN! Haha. It's called Get Over It and stars Kirsten Dunst. My plebian soul is calling out for me to watch it. Hehe. Eh Pug, go download for the marathon. Thanks!

turn my head with talk of summertime

The JBL speakers my dad got for me on saturday are fantasticawesomegreatwonderfulsupercalifragilisticexpealidocious! The Phantom of the Opera soundtrack sounds way better on speakers. The singers dont sound like they're mumbling anymore. Which is the case when I play the songs on my birdp0d(my nano has a name! :)) or through the altec lansing speakers on my laptop.

It brings back feelgood memories of watching Phantom last month with YP. Suffused with happy vibes now. Am in a great mood cos I've the whole house to my own. And my speakers.

Oh and they're of the cutest cutest smallest size. Perfect for an outdoor party, chalet, picnic... Hello anyone gonna date me for one of those? Sonya IMed last week about an all day long beach party when the UK people come home. I wanna bring my speakers! And also, Ow promised a trip down to Sentosa after army busyness ends this week. We're going to cafe del mar. And musical fountain.

And tonight I'm staying over at chanchan's house for an OC season1 marathon. The only blip on this current happy state is that I still havent found work. My grand plans of earning the ka-ching needs to get movin' or I can kiss goodbye to vacation plans for both this and next year as well as sprees.

But no, I'll stop obsessing about getting a job. A soundbite from OC3 to end this post that's more about speakers than anything else..

On Marissa hooking up with Volchek.
Summer: What does she see in that guy? He's all dirty and greasy.
Seth: He's got great abs. Women like abs. I've got a six-pack myself, I know.
Summer: Oh Cohen. Those are your ribs.
Seth: Oh.

TGIF!

but before that, yesterday's jewelry making session with Em.

Her piece for *shhh*. I hope she doesnt see it here. hehe. That's mine on top. It looks nicer together with Em's creation.

Not so nice on its own. It's a bracelet for Mak's homecoming! :) :)

Emily made this for me. I wanted to do it on my own but I was inept at first so we started small, and eventually i managed to make half a necklace on my own...

THIS!

model: Emily
necklace: 50% made by me!

That's the Ma's day present i made for my Ma. I feel damyam accomplished after 2hours++ of jewelry making. It's a nice feeling. And I've acquired a skill! Anyway, Em is really really good at this. I was taught by one of the GREAT ONES so go look at her selling journal ok?

But of course, pretty and unique as handmade jewelry are..there's nothing like promised jewelry from the significant other. I'm holding you accountable for that Ow. HAHA.

CG and supper with busy working Ow later! TGIF :)

just a song

Let's dance in style, let's dance for a while
Heaven can wait we're only watching the skies
Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst
Are you gonna drop the bomb or not

Let us die young or let us live forever
We don't have the power, but we never say never
Sitting in a sand-pit, life is a short trip
The music's for the sad men.

Can you imagine when this race is run
Turn our golden faces into the sun
Praising our leaders, we're getting in tune
The music's played by the mad men

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever, forever?
Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever, forever?

Some are like water, some are like the heat
Some are a melody, some are the beat
Sooner or later they all be gone
Why don't they stay young?

It's so hard to get old without a cause
I don't want to perish like a fading horse
Youth is like diamonds in the sun
and diamonds are forever

So many adventures couldn't happen today
So many songs that we forgot to play
So many dreams swinging out of the blue
We let them come true

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever, forever?
Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever, forever?

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever, forever?

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever, forever?

-forever young, youth group

This is one reason why indie music sometimes are the best there is. I want to be forever young but I dont want to live in this world forever. Strikes a chord?
